DocTalk is RocDocs' monthly meetup for documentary filmmakers and enthusiasts. Every month, we get together at WXXI to screen work, give and get feedback on works-in-progress, and talk through whatever's on our minds as a community. Some months it's a full screening, some months it's a workshop. It's always a chance to connect with other people who care about documentary storytelling in Rochester.
Each DocTalk is a little different, but you can generally count on:
  • A screening, sometimes finished work, sometimes rough cuts
  • Feedback and discussion on works-in-progress
  • Time to talk shop with other filmmakers and enthusiasts
  • Occasional workshops on specific skills or topics

We're opening the floor to WXXI to talk about a few new initiatives they have around documentary filmmaking, creating stories, and how to work with them to get your work to more audiences.

Bringing your own work

Got something you're working on? DocTalk is a great place to get real feedback before you're locked into final decisions. No project is too early or too messy to bring.

When and where

We meet most months on the 3rd Thursday at 6pm, at WXXI. If we're doing a workshop or event elsewhere, we'll let you know.
